Our second cross country race was the MSCCA Voyles Classic 2025. This race was also held at The Hermitage, so it was a course that I’m familiar with. Not only did I run this course two weeks ago at the Green Hill Invitational, I also ran it three times during middle school.

I ran with the Varsity team again for this race. Not only did I improve my race time, but I also improved my finish on our team.
My race time was 17:14, which was more than 30 seconds faster than my time two weeks ago. Although I ran faster, I placed lower on this race – 70th overall out of 358 runners. The improved time was a mix of more experience running 5K vs. 2 miles, additional training with my team, and running in daylight vs. at night.
Two weeks ago, I was the 5th place runner on our team. This time, I moved up a notch to post the 4th-fastest time on our team. Together, we placed 10th out of 42 teams.
Next Race
My next race is in two weeks at the Burnett Invitational on September 20, 2025 in Cookeville, TN. Once the race is over, we’ll continue driving East for our club soccer rematch against One Knox 2011 Boys NAL in Knoxville, TN, at 4 pm (Eastern).
When the final whistle blows, we’ll hurry home so I can shower and change before attending our school’s homecoming dance at night.
